Japanese media: To avoid driver distraction, Tokyo prohibits the use of LED advertising vehicles in advertising vehicles

[Global Times Comprehensive Report] According to a report by the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) on June 30, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced that it will impose comprehensive restrictions on advertising vehicles starting from that day. All vehicles driving in Tokyo will be prohibited from using LEDs to play video and other advertisements.
According to reports, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government believes that brightly colored and excessively luminous advertising vehicles may distract other drivers and bring double adverse effects on traffic and landscape on bustling streets. Therefore, advertising vehicles with Tokyo license plates will be controlled. This revision of the bill will expand the scope of control to foreign license plates.
According to the latest regulations, advertising vehicles are not allowed to use advertising designs that may distract other drivers. The route of advertising vehicles must obtain permission from relevant parties in the driving area, and the body design must also be approved by the industry before it can be used. At the same time, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has published an explanatory video and necessary application materials for relevant operators on its official website to facilitate the implementation of the regulations.
